All right, first off, hello! I'm Jeremy, read my profile if you want more, but this is a blog for my Journalism 1 class on FLVS so if you happened upon this... well I don't know what to tell you to expect honestly... This is all new to me too!
So the first question I was asked was something about what I think about the history of journalism. Honestly, my first thought was 'crap man, that took forever!', but I can understand how that must have weeded out the pansies from the real journalists. Having to put each letter down and press hundreds of papers a week (maybe not a week, I'm not sure) would do two things. One, make you strong. Two, make sure you loved getting and giving information. But those are just my thoughts.
Two, if the freedom of press were not assured, there wouldn't be much to see on television besides those stupid "reality" shows (you know they're scripted!) and really lame disney shows. But honestly, with todays technology, I think that news would spread like chain mail. When people got ahold of it. But that is if people got it. The reason we heard about the Weiner scandal was because of the TV news stations, Yahoo! news, and radio news. This example really only applies to people that don't use twitter, or know people that do, but you get my point!
And question number three! I honestly want to learn more about how to get a good story out of something, and how to put it together into a good package. I'm hoping to go into film, and many times television stuff is a step into that, and if I'm going into TV, I would probably prefer doing news to the stupid sitcoms and scripted reality shows. I love being able to dig a story out of something and show it to people.
Anyways, that's me, hope you like it because if you don't, we don't want you here anyways. Have a good morning/afternoon/evening/day/breakfast/dinner/lunch/brunch/tea or whatever is going on!
